In a bid to resolve questions related to how AI technology will affect creators’ incentives and influence readership and what it might mean for future research and learning, the Authors Alliance—backed by funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation—has launched a new initiative titled “Artificial Intelligence, Authorship, and the Public Interest.”
This programme aims to tackle complex copyright issues arising from artificial intelligence (AI) while exploring how this new technology can best advance knowledge and serve the public interest.
The Authors Alliance is now accepting functions for research grants of up to $20,000 to help modern research at the intersection of AI, copyright legislation, and public curiosity values and to demonstrate how these applied sciences and authorised frameworks might be highly aligned to foster fairness, creativity, and entry to data.
