Applications are now open for the HumAngle Technology and Civic Impact Fellowship, designed for Nigerian journalists, activists, and civil society organisations (CSOs).

The Fellowship seeks to foster innovation for social impact in Nigeria by expanding the pool of civic actors wholight under-represented perspectives and leverage emerging technologies to drive positive change.

The programme is tailored for journalists, civil society professionals, non-profit practitioners, and researchers who have demonstrated expertise and commitment to civic engagement.

Fellowship Structure

The Fellowship begins with a five-day in-person training in Abuja, followed by a three-month implementation period, during which fellows will put their learning into practice through a hands-on project.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be:

  • Civil society actors, such as advocates, non-profit professionals, researchers, or journalists (women are especially encouraged to apply).

  • Aged between 21 and 35 years.

  • Experienced—minimum of two years—in areas such as advocacy, technology, research, journalism, humanitarian work, or public policy.

  • Interested in leveraging technology for social impact, with prior experience integrating AI into their work.

  • Committed to attending the five-day in-person training in Abuja.

  • Able to submit monthly reports detailing project progress.

  • Willing to implement a short-term project (within three months) that meaningfully incorporates technology.

  • Fully engaged throughout the post-training activities over the three-month period.

Eligible Projects Should:

  • Be innovative and actively incorporate technology in development or execution.

  • Have SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound.

  • Be feasible within the three-month implementation period.

  • Leverage the fellow’s existing skills, experience, and network to minimise costs.

  • Address real-world issues such as accountability, human rights, transparency, or democracy.
